Hoops Dynasty vs Gridiron Dynasty Topic

For those of you who have played both...how does Hoops Dynasty compare to Gridiron Dynasty?

I played 5 season of Gridiron Dynasty and even though I enjoyed it...never could figure out the game planning aspect.  I thought I did a really good job recruiting...to the point where my first recruiting class made it to the semifinals in DIII as seniors.  I do have to admit that season I did very little gameplanning and just spread my offense and throw 40 or 50 times a game.

I wanted to give this a try and see if I liked it better.  I enjoy hoops more to begin with but wanted to get thoughts from others who have played both.  Thanks.

I think the biggest difference between the two is that multiple strategies can win in basketball.   When  I started GD everyone ran the ball 60 times a games and you just couldn't stop  a team that had good RB's.   Then it switched over and passing went through the roof.

In this game, you can win using slow down, fast paced, normal, every offense and every defense.   It isn't as gimicky.

I hope that makes sense.

I started with GD a few years but really enjoy HD much better. I dont have as much time as others for gameplanning but can still be competitive by focusing on recruiting. There are lots of great coaches in HD who are gameplanning wizards and can make average teams great. What I like about HD is you can run FB/FCP, focus on a few cores and turn them loose or you can run Motion/Zone and have several different game plans to choose from....

In my mind HD is a superior product and there's really no comparison between it and GD.

For identical cost, the HD season is considerably longer, so you're getting more game play for your dollar. The AI in HD is far superior -- very rarely do you see something happen in HD that strains the bounds of credibility or believability, whereas, at least when I stopped playing, GD was producing things of that nature with glaring regularity (timeouts with seconds to play and the ball deep in your own end of a tie game, allowing for a game-losing safety...timeouts before game-winning FG attempts that left enough time on the clock for the other team to run back a kickoff for a TD...quarterback scrambles up the middle on the final play of the game where a hail mary to the endzone is the only plausible play call...and the list could go on). Lastly, the crew at HD is generally good about providing feedback. Yes, there are issues we've clamored about with regard to recruit generation, but even at the worst over here at HD, it was nothing like the steaming black hole that GD was sucked into. I understand through the grapevine that things have improved slightly with norbert having replaced jconte on the project, but for me the damage is done and it will be a long time, if ever, before I put more money into that product.

With some effort, I think there is a rhyme and reason to GD, BUT in their current states the HD engine is far superior

I played GID a lot, (47 seasons). Before trying HD. To be honest it seems like GID was based on HD, a lot of the features in GID are dumbed down versions of what HD has.

HD allows a lot more coach decisions (that actually make a difference) than GID does. You would enjoy HD a lot better

HD is far and away superior to GD.  As previously stated, between the AI and the ability to make relevant coaching moves.  I also enjoy the believable results.

Perhaps others are in love with "Arena League" scoring for football games, or teams that pass 80 plus times a game(or ran it 80 times in the old day), but here teams seem to play as you see in real life.  Upsets are for a reason, and the odd random stupid stuff just doesn't occur.

I appreciate all the feedback.  My first season starts this weekend so I've got alot of forum reading to do...
