I hate whining about losses but I really don't get this one and wanted to hear peoples thoughts about why this happened so I can be a better coach.

I mean, I really don't understand losing at home and committing 20 turnovers against a press defense where I have better speed and athleticism at every position. ESPECIALLY since I emphasize BH and PASS at every position (even bigs).

So what happened here? Is their press that good with their high IQs? Did I just fall victim to variance and am just on the wrong tail of distribution? What else?

that was probably about 5 turnovers high from what would be expected. the other team has a LOT of high iq at the 1-3. no offense (esp as we r in the same conference), but your team is not so good as to make this loss unbelievable. especially when you take into account the low bh/pass of your team, put up against a high iq press team, you are going to see turnovers. notice though, u did shoot .564 fgs and .400 3s, which is damn good. the press generally gives up worse fg% 3pt% and causes stamina problems, and as a benefit, you cause more turnovers. so, it dont find the game outcome that surprising - although you were definitely on the unlucky end of the spectrum.

i think one of the bigger issues is that they hit 15 3's.  not necessarily your fault as they shot twice as many as they had in their previous 2 games, so they obviously made an effort to jack up more 3's against you.  also while your athleticism and speed are certainly better, your BH and PASS ratings are honestly not that exceptional...at least not so great that they are going to be able to consistently take care of the ball game in and game out against pressing teams.  they aren't bad ratings by any means, just not the kind of elite ratings that are going to be more consistently predictable against press teams.

His high IQ, and defensive ratings make for a great defensive effort.  I think as previously mentioned, this loss is more about his 3 point shooting then the press.  Yes it was a super defensive effort, but the turnovers alone did not kill you.
