Newbie Budget Distribution Topic

I am a long time Gridiron Dynasty junkie looking to get into HD. I have my first team and a 185 mil budget. And after about 45 minutes of trolling the forums looking for clear advice, I have just decided to ask for any help on setting the budget categories. The default was 105 payroll and 10 mil in each of the other categories. I would like to up the scouting and prospect payrolls consideribly but was wondering what distributions some of you guys recommend, particularly in terms of coaching and medical/training staffs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can only move the non payroll / coach categories $4M up or down per season. That said, I'd plan to push training up to $20M as quickly as possible. Pick one of the draft categories ( HS / College ) and move one up toward $20M while moving the other to zero. Most people push medical all the way up as well. Advanced scouting is pretty worthless for veteran owners but new players still need it as it determines how accurate the projections are for players under 27 years old. Your international budget and prospect budget can be closely related. If you aren't going to use the international market then you don't need as much in prospects because it rarely takes more than $10M to sign your whole draft class. Most veteran owners put $10M or less in coaching ( I usually spend the minimum ) Hope that helps a bit.

Training and medical are very important.  Maybe go 11 or 12 mil in coaching to secure a top fielding coach.  Choose whether you want to scout more in high school or college for the draft.  It would be better to have budgeted 14mil/6mil to see slightly better projections than if you had 10/10.

Check whether your existing Fielding Instructor is (a) any good, and (b) willing to return for minimum salary before you go budgeting for a top FI.
