So, I acquired a couple of young pitchers in exchange for a slightly older player in a trade this year. One was a pure prospect, but this guy had seen some major-league time:

I didn't have room for him on my ML roster, though, so I sent him down to AAA, where I have a good pitching coach, to get some finishing touches. About 30 games before the end of the season, I had two injuries on my ML staff, and I decided to call him up since I was paying him an ML salary anyway, BUT I had forgotten to put him on the 40-man earlier. It just so happened that I called him up one or two cycles after the deadline for setting post-season rosters. He cannot play in the postseason (which it looks like I will make).
My Question:
The kid's still impressionable, and probably has a development cycle left in him. The original pitchers on my ML roster are now cured. I'm thinking about demoting him to AAA to play in the playoffs. If I called him up while I had another player on the DL, do I have to worry about him suffering a demotion penalty? Is it worth bouncing him down if he could potentially get another 15 games playing the playoffs with my (very good) AAA team?
