How to knock off Sim's at DIII? Topic

Anyone ever try knocking off a Sim at DIII? What recruit actions does it take?

It depends- if FSS says they are real tight with the sim, then a ton of money to pry them away.  If not, tight they can be taken away pretty easily with home/campus visits...

If a sim is on a D3 player that means you can do way better, I would say there is 1 in 500 times in D3 you should battle a sim for a player.

mjp I disagree.  It really does not matter if a d3 sim is considering.  All of your players dont have to be dropdowns, it's all about potentials, 1 in 500 is an overstatement, maybe more like 1 in 100, some of the best players at d3 ive gotten have been considered by sims.

If you've seen them then I won't argue, but I typically find the Sims don't go after great players, and even if a guy is good, you can find someone just as good without battling the sim for him

i agree with mjp, but more for his 2nd reason (there are other options out there) than his first (that you can do better)

Coaches spend a lot of time saying there are always other options in D3.  I don't see it.  Unless you guys are scouting 3 or 4 times as many players as I am, there aren't always a ton of options that are really appealing.  If all you have to fight is a sim for a top-tier D3 recruit I'd go for it every time.

Agreed.  Invariably after the first dozen or so,  I'm looking at compromise players - low potential in 1 or 2 key cores in exchange for high potential/low start in a couple of others.

I usually don't bother fighting sims for D3 recruits, though - the last time I tried, I lost the battle along with about $5k of my money.  Turns out I wasn't the only one trying to steal the player away from the sim.
