Just repeating forum wisdom here (don't recall who said it first or I would give credit), not necessarily personal experience:
- It can be easiest to understand zone positioning by relating it to M2M. A 2-3 zone at 0 has a similar focus (inside) as a M2M at -2. A 3-2 zone at 0 has a similar focus (perimeter) as a M2M at +2. In effect then, playing a zone allows you to swing all the way from a M2M at -7 (by playing a 2-3 zone at -5) to +7 (by playing a 3-2 zone at +5).
As for double-teaming, I do it often with generally poor results, but I'm stubborn damn it, and so I double-team when I think it *should* work (in RL).
When the day comes where "film study" is added as a practice category and box-and-1 is added as a zone option, I'll very very happy.
