I landed myself a freshman stud BUT..... Topic

He has an F in both my offense and defense... the question is do I start the kid immediately or should I wait?

Take a look at my D1 Tennessee team below...  The kid in question is Fred Ervin who was picked up as an ineligible but will be eligible to play next season. Ratings-wise, he's clearly my best big (also has upside in rebounding, blue upside in defense and LP) but I just don't know if given his lack of IQ if he should start or not... thoughts on my frontcourt please?

guess it will also depend how things go with recruiting but with is WE being relatively low it's going to be tougher for him to learn your system so getting him starts and minutes will certainly help.

i'd probably even consider starting him at the SF position with limited distro and then start Holland at PF and Reese at C because you can get away with his lower rebounding when you have a very good rebounding SF.

I'd still get Ervin minutes at the 5 in place of Reese if you ever go with a smaller lineup because you'll want his better rebounding and then obviously I'd use Preston as the backup to Holland

EDIT: I see you started Preston almost this entire season....his lower ATH/REB/DEF combo scares me in a BCS conference, though obviously he is your best LP guy.  I still think he'd be a better fit coming off the bench and giving you a burst of scoring for 15-20 mins a game and minimizing the risk of harm done by his potentially weak defense and rebounding

Thanks for the great response....

1. I never even considered the thought of having him start at the SF position but the more I think about it, the more I like it.

2. I think Preston as a starting center was a mistake too.. he's a scorer but I tend to agree that increased scoring wasnt enough to compensate for weak D.
