Ranking, RPI, and Projection Report Topic

OK, anyone got a good feel on the ranking system? Not that it's a great important matter, but I've been top 10 RPI for a good chunk of the season, only got ranked once... Sitting 5 RPI, 10 SOS, 17-5 record, 5-1 vs Top 25... Sitting 20 in the projection report (which seems odd to be that low too).

There some magic formula to be ranked or get up there in projection report? RPI is pretty straightforward, the others seem almost random sometimes.

Only four games against the top-25 RPI probably doesn't help.  This is where I differ with the people who say SOS is the determining factor; I think it's more nuanced than that.  The HD "committee" obviosuly favors better schedules, but I don't think it's SOS as much as it is the actual teams you play.  Someone could have a great SOS by playing teams from crap conferences with great W/L records, but those teams aren't particularly good.  I think the new system rewards playing objectively good teams, not just having a pretty SOS.

Makes sense... I've honestly been doing what you said (playing best teams in the crap conferences to have better SOS, better RPI, and therefore increase my Prestigue). Was kind of hoping that the regular season in the ACC would make up any difference playing those "weak" teams since I'm guaranteed to face some Top 25 teams a few times each season.

Once I get prestigue up a little bit more, I'll have to adjust my strategy some to see if it affects ranking/seeding.
