Coach, thanks again for the scholarship offer Topic

Sorry, my original statement wasn't fully true. Its not just lead changes, but as kmasonbx pointed out, its any "major" event. That includes lead changes, and either getting on or being knocked off the considering list.
Sorry didnt see this +1 also.

Ok, so are lead changes and someone getting bumped off the list the only things considered major changes that generate messages?

No...they are talking about the scholarship email...which is the only one which really indicated where you stand...every recruiting action though will generate a response.

sorry - my question was misleading  - that is what I mean - are lead changes and dropping off the list the only things considered major actions that generate a scholarship email or are there other things too, like maybe a change from being "not 100% sold" to "very tight" for instance? Would movement on that scale result in a new scholarship message?

you guys are over simplifying things. there are a number of thresholds in a recruit's considering status of you. if you are on with another school, there are not simply "ahead" "behind" and "even" messages. there are degrees of ahead, degrees of behind. any degree change results in a message.

dac, i can't remember, but i know there are 1-2 messages you wouldn't expect to mean you are ahead, yet you are. i think this is one, but im only 75% sure. i feel like i know of one that it is for sure, and this was also one, but im not by any means positive...

billy, so getting that message with the prior message clearly indicating I was ahead does not necessarily mean I am behind, I could just be less ahead is that right? You are also saying that this particular message, while sounding like an I am possibly behind message is 75% likely to actually be an  I am slightly in the lead message - is that correct?

If that is the case, then clearly I got a message when the degree of being ahead changed. If I am truly behind, then I got the message because the lead changed. Too bad I don't want to just ride it out and see what happens - I'd rather win the battle...so i'll probably send more effort - I know the mantra - when in doubt, spend - but there are other battles to consider as well...you know the deal.

I thought I was saying what Billy was saying...but yeah...thats what I atleast mean...there is:

1) Ahead;
2) Pretty Even but ahead
3) Pretty Even but behind
4) Behind

Any change between these categories will get you a scholarship email.

dac - here are a series of messages and the timeline...i think mmt is correct based on the responses:

Coach, you have quite a bit more selling to do - don't get me wrong, I'm not saying no yet, but I don't know enough about your program to give you an answer.

It would be a dream to play for you at Charleston, I don't know why they make me wait to sign, but I guess that's what I have to do.

Just to contact and show interest in me is one thing, but to promise me court time with your squad and your tradition brings tears to my eyes. Really, that may just be the jalapeno peppers, but I would still absolutely love to ball with at Charleston.  (in response to PT promise)

Coach, it's down to a handful of schools - you're on my very short list, but I feel like I still need more information about the program.

What's not to love about Charleston? Making me a starter next season makes me love it even more! (in response to Starting promise)

Coach, thanks again for the scholarship offer - I really like your program, but I have to tell you, I may still have some other options that I want to check out yet.

If I had to give you an answer, I'd have to say no, but I just can't decide yet. I need more time. I'm sure you understand, right coach?

i think the last two emails mean that we were behind. the second to last ("still have other options"), though, means i was a little behind (no. 3 on the mmt scale) and the last one meant i was behind (no. 4 on the mmt scale). needless to say, i receiving the death blow next cycle.

i think there are more levels than the 4, even. there are at least, IMO, 5, and maybe even 7.
