Newbie Injury Question Topic

I did a quick search on the forums and didn't see anything covering this so I'll ask away.

First regular season game of my career and I have an injury to a starter already.  My starting SG pulled a hammy and the trainer says he's around 50% and suggested sitting him to recover.  Checking his stats, he's currently at 59 health.

1) I'm going to take him out of the depth chart for tonight's game, is there a general rule on how healthy he should get before I put him back in the depth chart?  Should I put him in as a backup before he's back 100% or just straight back into starting?  Any general advice on how to handle injury recovery?

2) Do I need to reduce his practice minutes or is he held out of practice (if necessary) automatically?  Do practice minutes settings have any effect on his recovery?

Thanks in advance for answers, much appreciated.

no need to change his practice mins

views will vary - I tend to put guys back when they get to 85 or 90%

if his backup is almost as good as he is, then maybe he comes off the bench until fully healthy - if there is a big gap, start him

If he's a freshmen and you promised starts or minutes, beware.  If you bring him back off the bench, he'll complain if he's not starting.

I bring them back when they're 80%.  Reduce his ratings by 80%. If he's still better than the backup, start him

Piggybacking on what al said -- as long as he's below 60 percent, he won't expect what you promised, so you can safely keep him out of the game. Once he hits 60 percent though, he'll consider that a game he should receive any promises given and he'll count it toward the evaluation of whether you're meeting your promise (if any was made).

Thanks a lot for the quick response, guys.  The injured guy was recruited by the SimAI before I took over and there's no starting or minutes promises on him, so no worries there.  Appreciate the full info though, very cool.

If you really need him you can put him back in at 70% coming off the bench and then move him back into the starting lineup as he improves.

One other thing to add is that there is NO INCREASE in risk to further injury by playing him.
