wild card tie... Topic

My team finished in a tie for the wild card slot.  The commissioner posted on the league forum that at one-game playoff would occur for two teams that finished tied for a division championship, but no mention of a one-game playoff for the WC.

The league schedule shows the play-in game for the division championship, but not the WC.

On my manager page, it does not indicate that my team is playing a one-game playoff, and my would-be opponent's starting battery is not listed.

My starting pitcher is locked in, so I cannot swap him out for the guy I'd prefer to start.

Is there not a play-in game to determine the WC?

If not, how is the WC chosen?

Do the division champion-tied team have better records than you?  If all tiebreakers are equal, they may be playing for playoff position (who gets the division, who gets the WC).

That happened to me too. I'd never been in the play-in game and wasn't sure how it worked.  I was told after the fact that your SP1 automatically gets the start.  Does anyone know if this is true?  What happens if your SP 1 just pitched and is fatigued? Does it revert to SP 2 or should you make sure to change your SP lineup so that a different pitcher is slotted for SP 1?

I lost the game, but at least I'll know for next time around.  It is odd that you don't see your opponent's battery for the game.  I had gone on a 12 game win streak to tie for the wild card. I would have loved to win the game, but it was fun to get to that point. I think the guy I tied had the better team, so it was no big deal.

SP1 will be looked at first to get the ball. If he's below his Auto Skip, he may be skipped, however.

I just had my second play-in game and ended up winning this one.  I put my best starter in at SP1 and he pitched a great game.
