So in order not to get 2 walk ons i just guaranteed astart to one kid cuz i was losing both battles and it was a last ditch effort. The kid could be very good, but he's not a starter on my team. Lets say he starts but I only put his target minutes to the minimum amount... would he be satisfied? Or will he still wanna transfer next season? There's no way I'm starting him unless this strategy works out...

He only has to start approx: 80% of the games he plays in.  Meaining you could leave him off the depth chart and if he doesnot play then your ok.

Yes, promised starts are just that - starts. No minute level is required.

Not sure whether brip87's suggestion would work too, but even if it does I'd expect you to lose out on a considerable amount of development doing that.

It will owrk but he promised the start so either live with it or live with him leaving or live with his slower development.  Or redshirt him ;-)

I think that loophole got fixed brip.

  • Closed a loophole where players would not complain about promised minutes even though they should have been.

I am confident that you could start him and use target minutes to keep his pt down.  As long as you didn't promise minutes, that should work fine.

No, the loophole this release note refers to was the fact that, prior to it, you could promise a kid a start, leave him off the depth chart entirely and, as long as he never played at all during the season, he wouldn't complain about the promise not being kept.

The 80 percent starts really isn't a loophole. Just like you can promise a kid 10 minutes and give him only 8 or 9 and usually not get a complaint, you can promise a kid a start and only start him 80 percent of the regular-season games and typically he won't complain.

btw whats lower.. mop up minutes or 4-8 minutes?

mop up will only put him in in garbage time....getting blown out one way or another. or extreme foul trouble

you are quite correct about the loophole being fixed. i wish i saw that before i blew a player up over it,

target minutes could work, but will likely cause more damage than good. i would recommend just playing the player at the 3 if at all possible, and put whomever is behind him at getting tired or whatever
