total DII rebuild Topic

So I'm hooked on this game... and decided to pick up a second team. I've got my DI team in Phelan, I decided to make my second team a DII rebuild.

But here's the thing, I have never done a DII total rebuild.... and it's been a while so I've forgotten a few things.... do DI intl players drop down? What level DI player can a D prestigue team expect to drop down? how fast does prestigue move up in DII (i know it's slow in DI)...

thanks in advnace

I don't know who you should rebuild....but I'll stress that that as far as I know, Iba is far and away the best DII World. Pick any crappy team in Iba and you should have a good time w/ them.

im already at unc penbrook in smith.... has not had an owner ever... pretty good recruiting grounds with SC and NC being within 200 miles. I get to send out 100 phone calls this afternoon to see who might drop down to me

He's already got UNC  Pembroke in Smith.

Prestige moves a bit slower than D3, but still much faster than D1. I have never recruited an international at D2, so can't answer that. As for dropdowns, I wouldn't expect any ranked players to fall to you. You might be better off looking for great potential guys who are on your D2 list (or low low low on the D1 list, since your D1 list will be pretty long).

DI international players drop down...but it they are generally very expensive if you do any scouting
Remember the closer DI players are to you the more likely you can pull them down...I usually run a search based on proximity.  Depending on your prestige you could get ranked guys within 30 miles (or so) of you.

Transfers and Juco guys are more likely to sign as well.   I have had 150ish Juco's consider me at DII with a C+ prestige.

With intl in DII i tend to go with the high WE guys and hope for a core or two where i want it... i've gotten lucky a few times on that. Take a C with 60 ath and 60 reb/def and 75 we and i'll take the chance on potentials.

My goal is to cut 2 players - recruit 6 freshmen, 1 being an inelgible, one to redshirt and 4 to start... if i can get that working I will set myself up

side question - in phelan - what are the odds of me being qualified for a c+ BCS job?

I would say little....

I took my D2 Abilene Christian/Smith team from a D+ prestige to its current A+  (my first Final Four) but it took me a few seasons to  figure out how to recruit and schedule that area and division.  With your experience, it shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 seasons, tops, to get your own players in and start to roll.  Your biggest challenge might be getting a good enough schedule to make the NT without having to win your conference.  I find that when you have a higher prestige other coaches are more willing to schedule you than when you're a sucky C.

I actually recruited a ranked player back when I had a C+ prestige, but that was before the rules changes.  It seems to me that the ranked guys I've seen (usually 110, 120 and up) aren't really all that much better than some of the unranked recruits I find.   I'm not confident that my A+ is going to get me into the door on many more ranked players than before - I'll still make phone calls, but no expectations.

On the other hand, this is the first season I'm seeing some 170+ ranked guys showing as D2 recruits.
