in theory, after the press collapses I think it has been said that the press falls back into some sort of man defense......so it is POSSIBLE that one could try to up the distro on the player who would match up - but I dont think the connection is strong enough to be worth trying - even IF the statement long ago about what happens when the press is broken ever was or is true
Pretty sure the press is a non-stop doubleteam and you only "fall back" into something if you're in a halfcourt/man or halfcourt/zone combo defense. That's one of the chief complaints about the press...in the manner the game interprets it, it really mirrors nothing that actually takes place in "real world" basketball.
That said, I've never found a distribution strategy that I liked for the press. I rely on having good passers and ball handlers and hoping they find someone who can shoot. If I nudge distro at all, it's usually toward my higher stamina and speed guys in the hope they'll get an advantage over a tiring/tired/very tired press defender and either score or draw a foul. Beyond that, I just attempt to cause more chaos and havoc with my press than the other guy can with his. When in Rome...
