If you've had a player on your roster, waive him and then pick up the same named player of a DIFFERENT year, is that usually considered a violation of the "clone rule" in theme leagues?

My opinion would be it isn't, but the person to ask is your commish.  Whenever I have thought about doing something that stretched or 'reinterpreted' the rules, I always checked with the commish first to make sure it was OK.

Thanks, I was just curious. It is not something that I am currently contemplating but it would seem that since the term 'clones'  is a general, commonly used term in many theme leagues it just seems like there would be some general definition of clone usage written down as a rule somewhere.Although a commish may have it in his head what he wants to do, I don't think that rules should be determined by a commish after a league starts. Because one commish may say yes and another no, It's similar to stadium ground rules in MLB being determined during the game.  The knowledge base gives a definition of a clone but it doesn't go much into detail.

Thanks guys, although the knowledge base gives the vague 'on the same team' statement'.  I'll go into all future leagues with the "at the same time" assumption.
