against all odds, i don't really backload my contracts.  they are normally evenly distributed except for the option year.

also, i normally don't end up pawning off the FA's I sign.  if i'm paying up to sign a free agent, odds are that i really, really like him.  if i sign him, that means i probably like him more than anybody else.

my MO in trades isn't to sell snake oil to people, it's to sell off useful assets for either more useful assets or somebody that fills a need.

The final offer I made before switching my attention to reino didn't include Aguilera, who wasn't a very important part of the deal to begin with.

Almonte sucks a fat one, you can probably sign a similar caliber FA with the $5M/year less that Arias cost and have a younger + better 3B.

If a HBD savant like yourself like Almonte, I can't believe he sucks a fat one.    Unless you knew that expensive turd was gonna drag you down.

basically i'm going to need a rebuild in the next 2 years, as I have an impending mass exodus of good players.  so i wanted to add another prospect to use as cheap help or a trade chip to help keep my ML team competitive as i transition to my new set of core players.  almonte qualified as a mediumly useful 1B that i could use on the cheap or flip for somebody else, so he just barely served my purposes (and even then I didn't feel great about it).  he wasn't even "my type" of player, just the only guy in your system who was good enough to get me to consider moving arias but not too good for you to consider, and you were the only one who TC'd me.

then while you were diddling with your balls trying to decide, reino offered up a better prospect so i ditched your loser and dealt with him.

Yes, I was very excited about the potential deal.

Good news: Almonte at least had me considering your proposal. Bad news: Your request for a throw in forces me to request you eat dick. Send me something reasonable and maybe I won't add a **** off.

I don't think I ever accused you of being excited about the deal.
