I'm sure you guys have hashed and re-hashed this, thus I apologize in advance, but does anyone know why WIS doesn't use DEF ratings according to basketball reference?

Obviously the numbers are reversed....BR goes bottom to top and WIS goes top to bottom, but hell make it work.  Just took a quick glance, 98-99 David Robinson has the 3rd best seasonal Defensive rating ever according to BR and is only an 80 in WIS...obviously All-D teams have something to do with it, but I just think it's ridiculous that they try to "jimmy" a number when they have a solid, concrete, gold standard if you will that I think people would like over/above their arbitrary DEF ratings.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, and I know it won't ever change, but damn, a little common sense would go a long way here...BR is awesome and chock full of useful facts...use it...man...

a 51 DEF rating in WIS...this will be the only othe example I post, I don't want to be that obnoxious about it.

def rating on bbr is pretty bad, too.... but not near as bad as WIS's def rating

They would have to pay BBR to use their numbers.

Again, jimmy it and make it happen...obviously those numbers don't equate with WIS since they go bottom to top and not top to bottom, so make the adjustment and make it work...certainly seems more scientific than what WIS uses...again, it's never going to happen, but I find it interesting to wonder about.

what's Wilt's d rating for 1966-67?

I don't know, but the top 6 seasons for defensive win shares are all Russell... the next two are Wilt, then a dave cowens, then two more russell, then wallace, then russell, then hakeem... clearly wis is on top of it.

win share is team stat but then so is d-rating really, if you think about it
