Don't disagree they shouldn't walk away at some point in their unglorious career, but not based on totally insane initial contract demands. That should be due to pure lack of interest by owners based on their lack of skills, not ridiculous contract demands that don't mimic reality. I understand the long-in-the-tooth Johnny Damon's and Vlad Guerrero's types asking for more than they are worth based on their age, prior contract and actual value for that point of their career. They don't need to make money per se. My concern is that the career border line "AAAA" type player asking for a ridiculous amount when he is worth basically the league minimum right out of the gate in initial free-agency. This essentially drives him out of the league prematurely. In reality, those type of players are generally just "happy" to be in the big leagues, not demanding four years at $5M per as a career minor leaguer with a cup of coffee in the majors. That does not make any sense at all. How do the Jaun Castro's, Joe Biemel's and Ross Gload, etc. types stay in real majors for 10 or 15 plus years, by asking for $5M per mutli-year. I don't think so.
