I have 1909 Christy Mathewson on my team.

In real life, he pitched in 37 games and completed 292 innings.

On my Sim team, we just finished Game 152 - 10 games left in the season.

Christy has pitched in 33 games so far and has completed 247.2 innings.

His stamina is currently sitting at 90(91) - granted, it's in the green, but why wouldn't it be at 100%?

This team is out of the playoff hunt anyway but this just peaked my curiousity...

He is CORRECT!   In real list, 1909 Mathewson faced 998 batters.  In your sim season, he has faced 1180!!!   So, in essence....  he is WAY fatigued.

There was talk of this, and rumors of another update, but so far, that is all it has been, just rumors.

Hi. Having recently posted a similar question myself about Mathewson, whose pitch counts are frustrating to deal with even if his actual performance even well below 100% is very good anyway - I realized that this thread bore bumping back up.

crazystengel, the thread about an update - which is itself quite old now - says that there will definitely be a shift from pitch count to IP for determining fatigue. I have a general sense that this is good, though better perhaps for newer players here than for veterans, and to some degree eliminating a dimension of play in the setting of pitch counts. But can you explain the connection with the parks used (assuming this change ever happens) ?

Why would pitchers' parks be less used because of this. Maybe grading papers all day has fogged my brain as I take a short coffee break to browse the forums here before getting back to work, and I have the sense (knowing the quality of your other posts here) that you are telling us something important. But I may not be the only one to whom the relationship is not immediately apparent.

How does it work?

Hey Italy,

The difference between pitches and IP being used to affect fatigue is that if it is done through pitches - more offensive parks lead to more batters faced leads to more pitches thrown and more fatigue. Users have been taking advantage of this by using pitcher parks in that less offensive parks - less batters faced - less pitches thrown - more mileage from each pitcher. If it was IP, it would not matter whether the pitcher faced 3 batters or 10, it would be the same IP - 1.

Hope that helps

jjgreen14, elbirdo and contrarian23, thanks to all three of you. I now see yet another side of this phenomenon that leads to the plethora of and preference for that combination of deadball era pitchers and pitchers' parks, and therefore the kinds of offense that will do well in such parks.

Very helpful.
