What am I doing wrong... HELP Topic

I came into this year with a lot of confidence. I had my 2 top leading scorers back, brought in some pretty good recruits to replace the seniors, and my bench players really gained some skill the previous season.

My non-conference schedule wasn't hard by any means, but I also had some tests. I came out 7-3 going into the conference. As conference play started, I rallied off 7 wins in my first 8 games. Since that point I am a measly 2-6, and some games shouldn't have been close (aka losing to the worst team in the league).

My question is, with the top rated team in my conference, what exactly am I doing wrong. I've tried starting different people. I've tried switching up who gets certain distro, starting people in different spots and slowing and speeding up tempo. I am going into the conference tournament tomorrow and was hoping for some suggestions on who to start and all that.

Keep in mind i run a motion offense, normally as normal pace with a 2-3/3-2 zone.

I don't have time to look into it, but my guess is you took one flukey loss and then started "starting different people... switching up who gets certain distro, starting people in different spots and slowing and speeding up tempo."  If you had a team that was doing well for a while you probably had the settings close to right (not guaranteed, again, I didn't look, but it sounds likely you were close).  Some slight massaging based on statistics makes sense in that situation, but it sounds to me like you probably overreacted to one fluke and then caused yourself to lose more by messing with your settings.  I'd go back to something close to what worked with you for the CT.  Also, tempo should be largely a product of your matchup.  Obviously if your team has depth or stamina issues you never go uptempo, and I've had teams with so little depth that I pretty much played every game on slowdown.  But short of that you want to base your tempo choices on how you match up with the other team, particularly when comparing starters to starters and bench  to bench.

Well I really didn't start changing until I lost 3 out of 4 but I guess I still could have slightly changed things instead. Just might be too frustrated at this point with players I feel should be easily beating the competition

I sent you a site mail with many thoughts....

Im sure having 8 under-classmen can make winning tough no matter how good they are. But i would go with:
PG: Fred Patton
SG: Marty Gray
SF: Richard Tisdale
PF: John Carr
C: Daniel Ferrier

Brian- thank you

Trojan- agreed, the underclass men part does make it rough

Gray at SG isn't a bad idea either... although I love to bring a scorer off the bench, like I said in site mail.

You are not athletic enough to be making the NT.
