take a walk-on or save the scholly! Topic

I just finished recruiting my first legit D1 class - I got everybody I really wanted, but still need major G help.

I have enought to get by this year, but need to get someone decent next year, so the question is:

With only one senior leaving next year, should I look to take a walk on for extra recruiting $ next year or take the best availble player?  The market is thin at this point so I'm not real sure what to do.  Need some expert help :)

Thanks all, B

I would say that is personal preference.  My opinion though, If you know the guy you would get this year wont be a stellar player, I wouldnt waste my time.  If you are certain you can get by this year, I would take the walkon and look for next year with 2 open schollies.

Another option is to sign a player with 1 year of eligibility on the cheap if you can -- you'll get to carry over 25 percent of any remaining cash (which won't be the case if you take the walkon) and the slot will open back up in a year's time just as if you'd had a walk-on, giving you extra recruiting cash next season.
