Do they use 2009 stats or their "base" year?

i thought aaa were normalized to the current year..in this case 2009

So pitching and hitting stats are normalized to 2012 for AAA players and pitchers, but the effect of AAA pitchers on defense around them is based on their base year? Meaning a 1906 pitcher hurts the defense and a 1996 one helps? and more to the point, to the precise extent as if we had drafted a 1906 or 1996 pitcher? Sorry boogerlips, if this is right let's close it, but I like to leave no dead horse unbeaten.
