F Free Throw Shooting? Topic

I have this guy on my team: Willie Jones.  He will never start, but I had hoped he'd be a decent role player.  I've been practicing him 15 minutes from the line for two seasons.   Will ever improve from that F at the line?  Can I tell him to just shoot underhanded?

He's still got big room for improvement at Perimeter and FT Shooting, but is maxed at Low-post and has almost no room to improve ATH, DEF or BH.  If I zero out his charity practice and make him practice only from the 3-point line, will that hurt anything else?

If he has high potential and a F, he will improve.

In all reality, you should ignore this guy and his improvements because he is essentially useless. Not going to win games with a player like that. Let him ride the pine for his senior year, read some recruiting guides on the forums, and sign better talent.

As for your actual question, the F can improve, but he might go from, let's say, 50% to 58% over the course of a season, so it still shows up as an F.

He has a 12 work ethic. Even if he's currently right on the border of F, I doubt he'll ever have a better grade than D- no matter how many minutes he's practicing them. Overall, I agree with backboy anyway. He's just not very good at all, and with his other ratings won't be shooting many free throws anyway. I realize you signed him because you had more than 6 guys to sign in that class so had to pick up some transfers/jucos for practical and balancing purposes, but the best use this guy will ever give you is when he leaves after his Sr year and turns into $3K.

Oh lord he is terrible.  He should not be shooting FTs much, so don't waste practice time there.  Just focus on Ath/spd/def/blk/reb and hope he can be a tolerable defensive guy.

I don't think he's nearly as bad as the rest of the comments.  But definitely ignore FT practice and dump into per.  And don't recruit anyone with under 20 WE again (yes, a few exceptions, but it's a pretty safe rule to live by).

Also, any time you get the letter saying they're maxed out, drop that to zero and put those minutes elsewhere.  You may lose a point, but the rewards outweigh that point.

Thanks everyone.  jsajsa, you may be right, but I've got to try to get something out of him in the meanwhile.  On the other hand, that might just be to keep the other end of the bench warm.
