I received lots of terrific advice in response to my last question so thank you to all who responded! To get a little more fine tuned, here is a follow-up question. My ML club plays at Safeco, a pitchers park. Although I'm sure worlds differ in how players will perform, in general should I focus on hitters with good contact and speed (as we would in real life), or would other factors be more important, (i.e. vL, vR, Batting Eye, etc). Since VERY few players are strong across the board, what should I most look for in hitters playing in a pitchers park?

Batting eye, for one.  Drawing walks is a ballpark-independent function of hitters.  Since in a pitcher's park such as Safeco hits are harder to come by, walks take on a little more importance in your offense.

Speed/baserunning.  You need to manufacture runs.

100 Power.  Make that ballpark irrelevant.
