I will probably end up coming into next season with 10K plus carryover money but I will have no open schollies next season. Is the carryover still worth saving or would I be better off spending the money now? 

If you have no seniors you can carry the whole was into the season AFTER so, yeah, worth saving!

Are you saying once you get hit with the 25% that's it? Only new money gets hit?

You get to keep the entire amount.  There's no reduction.  If you have $10,000 from carryover and postseason money and no scholarships to fill, you get to keep ALL of the money.

Example:

Year 1: $25K and 4 open scholarships.  You fill all 4 and have $10,000 left.
Year 2: 0 open scholarships.  You have the $2,500 carryover + $5,000 in postseason money.
Year 3: 4 open scholarships.  You get the entire $7,500 + new scholarships + new postseason money.

If you have 40k (so you carry over 10k) that's pretty significant. If you have 10k and think you can get an upgrade with the 10k, do it.
