Mitchell Gray is my team's leading scorer and starting SG. Last night, after a dead ball with 8 seconds to go:

00:05 Mitchell Gray is called for the reach on Christopher Nielsen in the backcourt - foul #5 on Mitchell Gray, team foul #6 59-57

This seems like the biggest no-brainer sub-for-foul situation ever... he's my best 3-point shooter, and the only G with 4 fouls. WTF is he doing in the game?

I doubt it really mattered in this instance (we ended up with a missed half-courter after a missed FT, lost by 2), but this kind of logic seems like it would be important to have in the game.

About 100% certain that there is no such thing as "sub for foul" logic in this game.

I know. That was the point...

You can only micro manage so much about the game.  People are always wanting more, be it this "sub to foul" situation or specific man to man set ups (I want player A to guard player Z, unless player Y is in the game, in which case player B guards Z and A guards Y and my head explodes thinking about all the scenarios...) or offensive/defensive subs or all kinds of other end of half/game scenarios.

For this setting alone, they'd have to add a few different options.  You'd have to allow people to turn it on/off (maybe I don't want to sub out a high DEF guy and want to go for a steal instead), you'd have to add some kind of toggle on your starters to allow them to be subbed out for this, you'd have to designate who you want subbed in (likely a high speed guy so he can get to anyone and foul), you'd have to set up the scenario in which you want this activated (down x w/ y seconds/minutes left)... it goes on and on.  If they tried to automate everything then the forum would just be lit up with posts about how awful it is and how it doesn't work.

At some point you just have to accept the engine for what it is and plan accordingly.
