I'm curious, why does there appear to be such a stigma regarding trading minor league pitchers for minor league position players???

I've noticed this in many open leagues and simply don't understand. If one person is set at pitcher and offers one in a deal for a position player they could use, what's wrong with that? (Or vice versa)

Is one or the other valued more in this game? (Trades such as this happen on a regular basis in real life Baseball...)

There was a time a few years ago when AAA pitchers were routinely more valuable than AAA position players.  Experienced owners would often prey on newbies who did not realize this value differential, and so many owners got in the habit of just reflexively vetoing those trades.  This continues even though it is no longer close to ture in my opinion.

With game changes, salary changes, and the IP/PA minimums in OLs, I now think the opposite is true: AAA position players are much more valuable than pitchers.  It's very very very rare for me to get a AAA pitcher whom I would use for anything other than mop-up duty.  If you happen to luck into a 9 or 10 effectiveness (the only pitchers I would use in anything but a mop up or Long B role), they will inevitably only be able to give you 25-35 innings.  In contrast, I've had many many position players who could be used as a platoon, or even fulltime starter.  Assuming I drafted my PA well, I can then drop a position player, or waive him for a guy with many fewer PA but much higher quality.  I've gotten 24 Riggs Stephenson, 26 Ty Cobb, and other comparable guys as AAA position players.
All true.

I have a stud rookie 1B with a real-life BA over .320 (I looked him up but forgot who he was).  Having him allowed me to waive Collins and use the money for McCabe and a good part-time 1B.

Happens like that a lot.

In leagues with AAA, I do my best to trade rookie pitching for rookie batting.

My average AAA from an 80M twist theme (regular season recently ended), in which the league average batting line was .269/.332/.397

some people veto out of pure laziness. 'apples for oranges' trades can be hard to evaluate and nobody wants to spend the time studying every trade.
