Simmy's advice "keep looking" Topic

When looking for open jobs, does the advice "keep looking" really mean 'no chance in hell"? In all my games I have never tried to apply for one...any suggestions?

I landed one once. I was moving from a Big 6 program to a mid-major and while I had plenty of experience to back me up, the reason it was keep looking was because my loyalty was an A or A- from moving the prior year. So it doesn't mean "no chance in hell," it more like the "one in a million" line from Dumb and Dumber.

Thanks! CS says they highly advise you to only apply to schools you are "Qualified" for. Since I am at a DI basement school, i will stick to that.

Keep Looking is both a Longshot and a Step Backwards. So your odds of getting the job are the same as a Longshot, and if you do get it, you'll take a big loyalty hit. I'm about 1-for-30 lifetime applying to Longshot/Keep Looking jobs. The one I get was moving from N. Illinois to Marquette in Rupp.

Keep looking means very very very unlikely but go ahead and apply .

on the topic of jobs...

I know that I have had some bad season's in P recently... but I find it shocking I'm not qualified for a single d1 job with over 600 wins, 2 national titles and multiple final fours.

funny, had I wanted to get my old job back at UConn on Phelan I was told "keep looking" despite going to the NT in all five seasons I was there, while raising the prestige from A- to A+

I'm around 0-20 in applying for keep looking jobs. I think they should either increase the chance of success or get rid of it entirely and just have not qualified, qualified, or step backwards.

With all the SIM coaches in these worlds I do find it a bit too difficult to land jobs that are only a tiny step up.  If you win your conference at a small school a few times it should be enough to land you a job like UW Greenbay or something in the MAC.  I understand making it a bit harder to get to a Big 6 school, but I agree that they should increase the chances of success when trying to land "longshots."
