What are your thoughts on Carter Craig and Ricardo Osoria ? Should I have given Osoria some time at AAA ? I needed a DH and he was my best option. Also, should I move Craig up to AA? I really want to make sure his vs Lhp&Rhp fill out to his projections. (62& 70 respectively).

Osoria has ML ratings, and he's getting the job done (.884 OPS in 125 PA's).

Craig is nothing special (yet).  You may have jumped the gun a bit in bringing him up to AA now.  Also, with a AVD budget of 8, you really can't trust his projections very much.  And he doesn't have enough development accumulated to come up with a reasonable projection of his ratings on your own yet.

I will assume you drafted well and that with an 89 makeup Craig will develop quickly enough over the next two seasons to make his ML debut in his age-25 season. And yeah, Osoria can play in the majors now, plus he likely won't develop much more anyway.

I would have kept Osario down.  He can hit at MLB but you should have let him grow. He is no All-Star/stud yet, not enough so to abandon a couple of years of projection.

You should have used AAA Albaladejo at DH.  He's already hit well at MLB.  With 96 Power and 90 Eye, he'll do, despite the 15 Contact and Splits in the 40's.  Heck, he OPS'ed .816 last year.  I love guys with that high Makeup, too.  They overproduce.  Or you could have used AAA Rivas, he's already a MLB hitter.  211 MLB homers and a .811 OPS.  And you're already paying him $5.8M.

With those guys available it made no sense to hurry Osario along.

Craig is fine at AA.

Wrong.  If he's ML
ready now and can help you win games now, he belongs in the majors now.

Osoria will not get much better than who he is, which is an adequate, but not good, ML DH.

Carter will be a very good something, LF or RF or 1B, against RHP.  The bat won't play at first against LHP, and I'm not certain that the bat/glove combo will play at COF against them.  AA is OK for him if the coaching there is strong.

Osario has had one partial year.  He will certainly grow at least 5-7 points across the board.

Looks like bluechip moved him up to open the season and lost his extra arb year.  I know he's only DHing, but his 68 Durability right now means he'll miss a bunch of games.

I would estimate that Osario is a .265-.335-.495 hitter, based on numbers.  That isn't bad and is close to what he's hitting after 31 games.

But Albaldejo should hit something like .235-.315-.500 and Rivas (who he is paying  almost $6M to for the next two seasons) should hit something like .250-.305-.475 and can play in the OF decently.  There isn't enogh difference between the guys to throw away an arb year and lose a year down the line.

And Osario is the backup catcher on his team. His starter has a Durability of 83, so he can play a bunch, but he's still going to have to start Osario close to 20 games or more at catcher....with a 26 PC.

He had better options.

Osario will have options.  If he's not happy with his production, he can be sent down during next pre-season, avoid a demotion penalty and save his BL service time while he develops(if he develops).

Here's a good example of a guy called up too early, failed to produce and was sent back down.   Check his contract.

I can promise you he will not.

He is a 63 OVR now, I can just about guarantee that he will not make it above 65. No use keeping him in the minors for development purposes.

In fact, IF he is going to develop AT ALL, The BL is where he will have the best chance to do so.

I want say I didn't sign rivas and I have been trying to move him since I took over the team. Albaldejo is good but really slumped last year, which is why I sent him down in a tight race last year. Osoria is maxed in power and contact. I can only hope he developes at least a little in rhp and lhp in the next few years. Rivas also doesn't have the eye I am looking for. I think I made the right moves. I traded a big pitching prospect for Osoria ( my DH), and based on the results, I am very happy. The pitcher was at least 3 years away from the bigs and probably had #1 but more likely, #2 potential.

I'd say Dreifort is a lesser caliber protect that Craig. I think he should have gone top 5 in the draft and was doing backflips when I got him.

Regardless, if he plays and has room to grow there is just as much chance he will at the ML club as the minors. So if he helps your team, he should be on the big league club.

Dreifort was posted to show that you don't have to leave call-ups in the bigs just because you called them up.  If they don't work out and have options, send them down during the next ST.

For the record, I didn't sign Rivas either ;)

Is it weird that I follow your team?
