So here are the projected minimums as of now of a center i am looking at. He for sure isn't typical but I think he can do well as long as he is used correctly.
A      spd  reb    de   blk   lp    pe   bh   p   we   st    du
85    18  54     75    45   36    1      1    8   91  76  42

Only LP is high potential. PE BH P are lows.

At DIII he may not rebound well but someone like this should be able to shutdown any offensive threat from down low. I think.

Anyone ever have a player like this work out?

P.S. I'm a very defensive minded coach so don't even bring up his inability to score. I'm well aware.

He'll be great. I love having a player like that (usually a guard/forward is more useful, but a forward/center could be very good as well).

He will rebound fine. And he will also score at high efficiency once the LP comes up. He will also get to the line a ton, so bonus if his FT rating is strong.

The downside is that you will have to deal with a lot of turnovers - but it will be worth it.

I would take him in a heart beat.

He is going to be a great D3 center although I might be more likely to play him at PF.

PF with that speed?

spd is avg potential right? if he gets to near 30 he could be ok at PF. With his ath he'll rebound fine against most D 3 centers regardless I think...if the LP is HH he could be an exceptional offensive center...

Yeah, an 85 ATH, 50 LP center will score efficiently, particularly if he is a good FT shooter.

And if he doesn't score, he won't turn the ball over so much.  The ZERO disto is a great equalizer to the bad BH /PASS guys.

The listed numbers are projections, so 30 would be the verrrrryyyyyy high end of the possibilities.  And the LP would have to be very high high to turn him into an exceptional offensive center.  Could be a 50 or 60+ growth high in LP, but even 35 or 40 growth only makes him averagish.

not really worried about him scoring. I haven't looked at offense since i restarted playing and it's worked really well so far. Whatever offense i get from any players is pure bonus

You can have a good team built almost entirely on defense, but you don't see many Final Four teams that don't have at least 2 or 3 good to great scorers.

He'll be good as a D3 center. He'll rebound far better than his rebounding ratings suggests.

lp and per if they are high high seem to be the categories that can routinely go for 50 or 60 points of growth...but even if he only gets to 50 lp with that ath he will still score very well, if he gets some distro

Yeah, his shooting % will look good, but the question becomes whether it's good enough to justify the turnovers that he'll have with much distro...
7/12/2012 2:27 AM
yeah, there can be some of that, but if he plays center even with those bh and pas numbers his TO numbers will be lower than you['d expect I predict...I watched this a bit with one of my teams, started a center with 1 pas and bh in the teens at D 1 and his TOs were not prohibitive...course the guy ended up getting drafted, so his cores were good...
