Tied in standings - draft position Topic

Two teams tie for third in division standings to finish the season.  Each one of them has to be assigned a position, which can be found in the team's history.  Does it not make sense that the team that is considered to have finished 4th should draft earlier the following season?  Completely hypothetical situation

OK forget about it.  It seems like the tie breakers for draft position are different from those for division standings.

I tied for a playoff spot and didn't get in the playoffs. The team that did get in playoffs got the better draft spot. Screwed both times. No cuddling afterwards.

In my case, my division mate and I both ended up with 81-81 records, but my team got the "tanker credit".  The next season, the other team got the 16th spot in the draft order, and my team got 17th.  Significant for signing Type A FA.

With type A free agency compensation a draft tie-breaker was the difference between me drafting 18th and 118th.
