Naismith Division 2’s top conference in 8 of the last 9 seasons has ONE opening:
S. Indiana -- After seven seasons, the head coach of this program has left. S. Indy was 6-21 this past season but enjoyed a nice run of postseason appearances not that long ago. The new head coach will have 6 scholarships to fill, so you can put your immediate mark on the program, which is currently set for fastbreak on offense and zone/press on defense. With six schollies though, you could make those pretty much whatever you want starting in year 1. Prestige is C-.
SIU, Edwardsville — This program would be an outstanding choice for someone wanting immediate success at the D2 level. It has three scholarship openings, back-to-back 20-win seasons and an A- prestige. The class rotations are fairly balanced to allow for long-term success. Former coach ran motion with a zone/press hybrid. I honestly can't imagine there are too many better openings at the D2 level this off-season, but I might be biased...
Kentucky Wesleyan — The red-headed stepchild of the GLV...we tried to give this program away a couple seasons ago when the former human owner ghost-shipped it in back-to-back years but found no takers. Simmy has coached it back to a C- prestige this year and a 13-14 record, so it’s a better offer this time around. There’s four scholarships open and, while there’s still work to be done, at least you’re not starting from the absolute basement of D2 now. Team runs a motion/man set currently.
We sent 8 teams to the post-season this past year, including the national champion St. Joseph’s (IN) program under bhansalid00’s leadership. All said, there’s roughly $7,500 in extra recruiting cash for you to play with upon arrival. All 10 of the human coaches in the league have been with us at least 3 seasons and many have been around much longer than that. We’re a fun group. Come join us and help us fill this league!
