I fixed that problem by having my hitters suck equally regardless of the handedness of the pitcher.

Well done!

I think changing the starter to setupA and setting the pitch count to 5 is bush league, myself.  I have seen it used a number of times, and the loophole needs to be closed.  Like damag said above, the L/R tandem is obviously beneficial strategically.  The problem I have with it is that the offense has no way to respond to it.  It is virtually impossible to get a pinch hitter in the game prior to the 6th inning.  This gives a huge advantage to the pitching team, since they can do the tandem and the hitting team can't respond to it.
I can't believe that this is possible.  I'm going to try it out in spring training just to see for myself if it works.

So you're saying that once the SP is locked in that you can move him to SuA and set his PC at 5?

If so, yeah, that does need to be fixed.
Yes - and it is pretty easy to set up who comes in next regardless of not having the tandem option.
I've had to do this a number of times; not for strategic purposes, but because I ****** up.  If you don't look at your pitching staff for a full day when you are running a lot of Tandems (which I have done for 5+ seasons now with my For Life team and I am now doing in Moonlight Graham, both due to the pitching staffs that I have), you can end up with a guy at, say, 63(90) as your next starter.  When I cause that problem for myself, I put the guy in setup and set his pitch count to 5/5 and let the sim decide how my bullpen will handle it.
As far as running opposite handed tandems, I think that willsauve's argument is ridiculous, given the current setup of the game.  You have to throw a starter for at least 40 pitches, on both sides of the tandem.  My goal when I am running my tandem starters is to have them opposite handed to have a better benefit to my team.  Tandem's are a part of HBD, and have been as long as I have played.  If it is devastating to your lineup for a team to throw 40 pitches RH'ed then 40 pitches LH'ed, you ****** up when you built your team (or set your lineups) and that is on you.  He would have a definite argument it you could still have the tandem A just throw 5 pitches like it used to be, but WIS admitted that was an issue and fixed it long-ago.

i believe i just recently had to switch up a scheduled starter and pull him early. and it worked.

Like I said I wouldnt have too much of an issue if there were hitter settings in place to effectively counter this exploit..

When I did it, I had my starter set at 40 pitches.  It didn't occur to me to exploit a 5 pitch count or anything. I figured 2 or 3 innings and then the oppo handed guy would shut them down maybe.
Ol' Sheepdogs built up a lot of goodwill here. I believe him.

Look at the box scores Policeman.
8/21/2012 12:40 PM
Whoa I'm a cop now, I thought you were the sheepdog, and I were the wolf?

8/21/2012 1:05 PM
Your like a wolf/policman/sirenblower combo.
8/21/2012 1:13 PM
I thought there were only 3 types of people in the world, wolf, sheep, sheepdog. Although technically I must correct you, none of them are people.

And I'm pretty sure I get warnings from WIS that say althought Im not breaking rules please be kind to Ranger because he has complained. I am willing to bet a lot of money that you have never received one of those from WIS regarding me.
8/21/2012 1:18 PM
I wouldn't know why Wis is sending you warnings, I have never ticketed about you, other than seeing what I could do to get you out of the world when I was commish.

You may have received some warnings because you like to belittle people and have a hard time sticking to the thread topic.  I, on the other hand, very rarely if ever make personal attacks, so Wis would not bother warning me about anything.
8/21/2012 2:23 PM
No no no, as I said, they specifically said you complained. They also said I did nothing wrong but they would appreciate it and others might if the arguments ceased.

8/21/2012 2:29 PM
I believe it!

Damn, where's that boot button?
