How does one determine that "there are too many left handed pitchers" without comparing the percentage of plate appearances vs LHP/RHP in MLB to HBD?

Since Mike agreed that the data supports your claim and only suggested that you should have done research and provided actual data in the first place, maybe you shouldn't argue with him on this one...

Looks like the average HBD team gets about 5700 AB per season.   8% equals 456 AB.  Even if you sway the percentage 2% to account for seasonal variability, it's still 6+ games of AB per team.    That is pretty substantial.

Doing a little research like that would probably help arlen's complaints.    Of course, he's not going to do that.

BTW, his last sentence sort of proves why his complaints are dismissed as silliness.    He doesn't care that PA vL is high, he only cares that there are "too many LH pitchers!!!"

Anyone wanna guess the word I'd use to describe this sort of nonsense?   It ends with "assery".
