If a draft pick is considering playing football, does it help him decide to play baseball by increasing my offers to him?
Says that he appreciates my generous offer.  Seems to me that more money might convince him.  Anyone tried it?

Does the same hold true for a pick considering college?
Says he's content with my offer.

NEVER offer over their asking price.  You're just bidding against yourself.

If they're willing to sign, they will come back with a new offer, which they will then accept if you offer it.

Thanks.  Already made the mistake of bidding against myself AND inadvertently withdrawing an offer so that I won't even be compensated if he doesn't accept (I thought the first offer remained...don't ask me why, or why I withdrew...a serious brain cramp....aaaarrrrgh!!).

Re-offer the asking price and let him decline. You'll probably still get the COMP pick.. I bet he'll sign..

Thanks.  I did re-offer.  For some stupid reason, after I offered a ST invite, I thought if I w/drew the invite, the original offer would remain.  Every once in awhile I don't think things through and just act.
