This guy has 52 HR through 110 games. Hitters like this are a dime a dozen - I have like 5 in my minors at any given time. I'm sure some of you have seen this before, but that just seems ridiculous to me with his ratings. He can clearly mash, but his contact and split ratings are poor. Even in a HR ballpark, I wouldn't expect to see numbers like that from him.

To put it in perspective, the world is in it's 9th season and the seasonal HR record is 60. He's on pace for 77.

Doesn't have the biggest numbers, but similar splits.  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Jerome Lee

Your guy's batting average has really spiked this season. But it's not obvious how.

I have a guy like that on my bench. I was about to DFA him and he had a 3 HR game. Maybe I should play him more. You certainly give your guy the ABs.

It's not my guy...though with those numbers, I'm thinking of starting someone similar.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Preston Burkhart - Picked this guy up for cheap and became the MVP, though I think they turned off the steroids in the game since.

Thread reminded me, this player is currently tied for our league lead in HRs and 2nd in RBI - http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=3603485.

His owner even said the guy almost didn't make the ML roster because of his splits.  I know OVR rating is meaningless especially in this case, but it's kinda funny starting a 54 OVR in the bigs.

Note the batting average spike - although it's too early in this player's career to tell for sure.  I also see that Burkhart's big season came with a batting average spike.

Small sample size, but are we starting to build a case for the sim allowing this type of player to have the odd career season?  Or at least an unbelievably hot half-season?

The sim has always been kind to the high power (97-100) guys, regardless of their splits.

It's not that unusual for high power guys to have big HR seasons regardless of splits.   The "problem" is the inconsistency.   You have to tolerate the string of 0-4 games to get the 2 homer games.  The first guy is a legit BLer.  Switch hitter with 40/90/70 con/pow/eye with a split over 50 is fine.  He won't be nearly as inconsistent as Lee(52 eye) or Stafford(RH with 41/35 split).   Of those two, Stafford is the better play because his 89 eye will put him on base even when he's pulling an 0fer.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Yunel Valenzuela is a good example of a guy that wore thin with me.  His .340 OBP and .468 SLG in a few BL stints is respectable.   I just couldn't take the 0-4 it took for him to get there.   Projected out over a full season, he's got 40 homers and 120 RBI.   I just couldn't wait for it to happen.

And yet I have guys who are all 70s-90s in hitter ratings who struggle to .250 and 20 homeruns. Whatupwitdat, as the kids say.

Not quite the same thing:  Jarred Matthews  0-85-47-75-98   http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=3760567

He spent all of one season up for me (as part of a COF platoon), and part of this.  I'm about to bump him up again.

Career .247-.330-.474 with 26 HRs in 392 AB's

Interestingly, in 59 vL AB's, he's hit .271 and OPS'ed about .890

You give a guy a high 90's Power or Eye, and the other in the 80's, he can help....regardless of splits.

Reminds me of my starting 1B Aaron Coles: http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=4002419

He's averaging 49 HRs a season as a full-time starter over 4 seasons. He has a .270 average to go with it too over that same time-span.

his season 7 was crap
