Upcoming Release - NEW SPREADSHEET Topic

We're ready to release the changes we've been working on. Before we do that, we've put together a spreadsheet containing some key new data that we'd like to have everybody look over. If there are no major issues with it, we'll probably release the new player versions on Wednesday or Thursday.

The file is here: http://www.whatifsports.com/db/nba_salaries.zip

Like last time, the release will not affect leagues in progess. Any league that has not been scheduled at the time of release will be sent back to the draft center. All players in the draft center will then be updated to the new version.

Your link appears to download the file, and opens WinZip on my PC, but there is no file there.

I will try again when I get home.

It's a zipped csv file. I think some people have had issues in the past downloading these, so if anyone does please post details, including which browser you're using.

No luck at work or at home. Why use a file format that you know people have had problems with? I don't even want to start talking computers and show just how little I know, or I'd post details. (Some of us are old and possess extremely little computer skills. Make it easy for us.)

I think its because Excel only has 16384 rows, but not sure

Wow the defense got HAMMERED! Last upgrade we got more defense which was bittersweet because it brought in some new good guys that I'd not use otherwise. Looks like Stockton's defense is very low for being the all time steals leader and Rodman's value increase BIG TIME while Wilt's dropped ... weird.

Wiltzilla is the 6th highest paid player...they didn't see anything wrong with this?...lol!

No 100s on defense...cute

Top Wilt DReb% season...82nd compared to Bill Russell's 12th...cute

Anyone else dreading this?

I have no issues. The file format contained in the zip file is portable for use in many spreadsheet programs, including Excel and OpenCalc.

It's a comma delimited file with a text delimiter using double-quote.

2 guys with negative numbers in the Shot% mid category...is that correct?
8/25/2008 6:53 PM
Seble, why are there 82 less players than before? Did you take out the players that have matching stats from playing with multiple teams during the same season?

Top defensive rating 96:
9 players from the 70's
4 players from the 80's
8 players from the 90's
34 players from the 2000's
No players from the 50's or 60's

Defensive ratings at or above 90:
11 from the 50's 822 population 1.34% of 50's population
46 from the 60's 1814 population 2.54% of 60's population
146 from the 70's 3739 population 3.90% of 70's population
125 from the 80's 3507 population 3.56% of 80's population
154 from the 90's 4271 population 3.61% of 90's population
210 from the 2000's 3770 population 5.57% of 2000's population

I think the new defensive ratings skew too much towards modern players.
