Player Improvement Change Topic

We've gotten a large amount of feedback since player potential was introduced that indicates a need to tweak player improvement. We're implementing and testing some changes now.

The overall effect of the change will be slower development of players. Currently, most players are developing over about a 2 year period. We'd like that to stretch that out so most players peak as juniors and seniors. Of course every player has a different combination of potential, work ethic, and practice plan, so that peak will vary from player to player.

We're not planning any changes at this time to potential itself.

This change will likely be released some time next week and will immediately take effect in all worlds.

Watch an over correction and players don't improve at all in the first 2 seasons now, but I'm willing to see how this works.

sounds like a productive step - but I do wish they would announce it further in advance....

Kudos to WIS for responding to user concerns.

exactly my thought furry. i don't mind the rapid growth but make it happen at different times for different players. maybe base it on total minutes played so each player takes a different amount of time to reach their rapid growth but then coaches still

Glad that you've pre-judged the success of the implementation, but you're still willing to see how it works.

Thanks, by the way, seble. Keep up the good work. HD is a terrific game.

Dont increase DURABILITY on any recruit EVER. It falsely increases a TEAMS overall rating and is counter to how many recruit. I think that any change needs to be really tested as the next correction is key to the continued growth of this game

Unless you are going to tweak injuries but that has been a disaster in the past when injuries and problems were a part of this game.

Good luck on the changes

Agreed. One week's notice isn't much. Hopefully this really is just a small tweak and it isn't a drastic change that affects the season.

make it come sooner by giving more playing time. so its not completely up to the sim. you can get info from evals like 'he's got some work to do to reach his potential' or 'he's bout ready to take it to another level'

If there's a majority sentiment to wait longer we can, but we've gotten the impression that immediate is better in this case.

The problem with this change if my thoughts are right this doesn't really do much. All they are doing is adjusting how fast they improve. Players maxing out at 15 will still happen if you have average potential, but I guess its going to be turtle speed now so it doesn't happen till later. Low still means no gains. I guess the thing people were complaining most that its still a random set # that you have no control as a coach to go higher then and that still exists. I'm not sure I want my average potential players to only gain like 4 points per season with 20 minutes in order to have them reach there potential later.

How much preparation does one really need for changes to rates of improvement?

I think in this case adjusting it is better as well. No point in continue to give the large classes advantages by allowing them to get extra time to improve at a faster pace.

It's more the idea of a ratings cap on every player and every rating. Whether they improve a ton in 2 years, or slowly over 3-4 years, it's the idea that ratings can be maxed out... meaning that individual practice time becomes virtually useless.

Good change, seble.
