Has WiS ever discussed the possibility of creating a world (or letting current worlds choose to change) that's based on 2 hour intervals instead of the current 4?

I'm a terribly impatient person and wish the seasons could happen twice as fast. WiS could make more money off of having seasons go quicker and people could choose if they want the faster or slower worlds when selecting which to join.

It makes too much sense not to consider, so I figure there's been some talk about it in the past that I missed.

Like the turbo worlds in HD? Might not be a bad idea to open 1 or 2 and see how they go

definitely wouldn't be for everyone

The turbo worlds in HD have 12 hours between game cycles. A turbo HBD world would have four hours between game cycles. Doesn't really give people much of an opportunity to react to things like injuries between cycles.

Unless you're super-obsessed and sleep deprived, you're pretty much assured of sleeping through at least one full cycle between games. Don't think you're going to get a whole lot of acceptance for that.

It would dedicating twice as much hardward to one world. And CS would take twice as long (in HBD days) to respond to a problem. And the schedule would have to be tweaked regarding RV draft prep. etc.

Those are the problems I could see.

That's just brutal.

With the proper settings, I don't see this being a major issue.

You could sleep straight 7 hours and not miss a beat.

It's certainly not for everyone, but I imagine there's got to be 32+ people out there who are just as addicted as I am and would prefer seasons moved quicker.

i always thought they should do a league that's synced to the MLB season. it would be, as they say, great fun.

Only if you're in the right time zone.

I'm pretty sure you could sleep 7 hours in any time zone and only have 1 game play during that time period. Just like I could sleep 15 hours and only miss one game now.

If workable seems like a win win. Wis collects money at twice the rate and the customer got what they wanted.

I do have problem with converting any current world to the souped up process. Speeding up the game to twice the speed does not work for me. I would be a little upset if I was in a world for say 20 seasons and then the commish made the decision to switch over to a world on steroids. Even if I was the only person that did not wish to change I would not be happy because I would of never joined said world in the first place.

Doesnt matter what your settings are, when your starting SS blows out a knee you have to go to AAA to find a replacement. Sure the sim will throw your backup in there for the game but even then you are playing a game with 24 guys.

However I think guys would know this going in so they would be okay with it. My only fear would be what would happen when someone disapears mid season or ends up on vacation for a week or their internet is lost in a storm.

I agree plague, it would seem that you'd need all 32 owners on board to make the switch, otherwise you're just asking for troubles.

But yeah, for what little downside people can see in the idea, I'm sure there's more than enough people who will overlook or even embrace those to get their seasons done quicker.

The main downside I can think of is half the time to get trades done. And you certainly wouldn't want newer players joining a league like that. With all the clicking you'd need to do in such a short amount of time, I don't think they'd last the whole season.

My biggest problem would be at the start of the season, plus I would not be able to make changes between games on a daily basis instead of just occasionally, like resting pitchers etc.

Well that's simply a product of improperly building your team to withstand such an instance. Not that I ever have a serviceable replacement in AAA for anyone really...

"My only fear would be what would happen when someone disapears mid season or ends up on vacation for a week or their internet is lost in a storm."

Same thing that happens now, just that it'll feel like they've been gone twice as long...

And as you noted, people know what they're getting into. It's not like you want to force this upon anyone.

I am also a very impatient HBD player and I like this idea, but I think it would solve some problems if there were 5 games a day instead of 6, having only one in the normal AM cycle. That way, people wouldn't have to adjust their sleep schedules at all. There'd be games in the morning (the current 3am cycle) and then again at 11am, 3pm, 7pm, and 11pm. I just think having a 7am game would turn a lot of people off since a lot of people, even those who work 9-5, don't wake up before 7.
