It's almost time for me to make a decision on staying where I'm at (DII / Lake Superior St.) or going after a DI job. My ultimate in this game is to coach the University of Houston in Conf. USA. I have had decent success so far in DII and DIII, 8 seasons, 170-72 overall record, 5 Natl. Tourneys, a DIII final 4 and a DII elite 8, etc. I also have a strong team returning at DII, a Natl. Tourney team for sure and possibly a final 4 team. My question is this: Should I stay where I'm at, have another strong DII season or 2 or should I take any DI job I can get and go after the U of H job from there. Thanks in advance.

What is the prestige of U of H?

D+

If you think you can improve your resume then stay for one more season. You have a 1st round PI in your last 4 years so if you make the NT and do some damage next season you might be able to get a better team.

Also is your loyalty even good enough after changing jobs 2 seasons ago?

Loyalty is B+ right now but should go to an A- when this season is completed.

Would I have a better shot at U of H with a better resume after staying put 1 more season or after a medium season at a DI school?

Your loyalty may hold you back, but with Houston at a D+, it's pretty easy to jump straight there from D2. That being said, get another D2 tournament bid on your resume, then go grab your school. And best of luck!

D+ is achievable with Sweet 16 level D2 success. I think if you can get a pair of E8/S16 D2 seasons back to back you'll be in.

I think I went to a D+ team....not as much D2 success.
