With my Campbell team, is it weird that I am not considered a longshot or qualified for ANY d1 jobs? Either keep looking, not qualified for step backwards.... That's nuts right?

Auburn in the SEC is a c- prestige and is a step backwards.. I'm probably going to apply.

I think so but What do I know im in the same boat

I was in the same boat this last year with my Loyola team. I stayed with them though, for one more year.

Brian, are you applying to anywhere or sticking it out with N Ari for a couple more years? We should get into the same conference eventually.

Im going to stick it out for a season or 2 and yes im game to join you let me know what conf and im there.

come to Pittsburgh ape.

Don't get too caught up in the messages from simmy. There are plenty of times that a program will be listed as step backward, but it's still obvious that it's an overall better situation (i.e. moving from Campbell to the SEC).

Just rely on common sense rather than simmy and you'll be fine.

I would love to go to the big east ape. ;-)

I'll put in an application for pitt. But I'm not qualified. I'd love to get in the big east with you guys.

After a final four and a sweet 16 at FIU in Allen, I was not qualified for any of the solid big 6 jobs... I think I might have been qualified for a C- TAMU or something like that but i was quite surprised because IRL I am pretty sure that a coach with a resume like that is going to be the hot coach who everyone wants...
10/6/2009 6:05 PM
You're probably right Z, but I think it was because you didn't have enough total DI experience.
10/6/2009 6:07 PM
Not going to argue with you there, but I still think regardless of whether I did or not IRL the big six schools that needed coaches would be interested.

Since I have just finished my first 4 DI years at Grambling, with a NT berth last year and 2nd round exit this year (taking over a program with RPIs in the 200's), this frustrates me. I am pretty sure that I have seen guys make the jump to a Big 6 conference with only 4 years at a mid-major. I was hoping to do the same possibly when job apps open in a few days. Has the above situation always been your experience?
