Been away for more than a year, maybe two, playing mostly the HD game.....but still have a team - whats new in the SIM?

of all these fancy advanced stats, which are worth looking at? why do I care about steal % and those things?

eFG% looks cool

what else should a retread like me look at?

eFG% and the rebounding percentages seem to be huge. Opinions differ on the significance of just about everything else, but the winning formulas in open leagues consistently are heavy on rebounding dominance and a shower of 3s.

okay, so just to see whats up I put together an exhibition team - seems like these guys are not the cookies that are most often used - not enough 3's? too much $ spent on perimeter defense?

At first glance, I think you may have usage and minute problems with this team. There are only two full time scorers, and with Rodman, Bird, and Walton all being part time players, Wilt isn't going to get much help on the boards either.

I guess minutes are OK after a second look ... if you play your deep bench guys, which is a bit of a drawback (though in exhibition play, it might not come to that much). I still think the usage issues apply, however. Looks like McMillan plays SF at least some of the time, which means weak rebounding overall, perhaps even when Rodman is in with him. This particular Wilt version is surprisingly ordinary.

Still, it'd be an interesting experiment for an exhibition league. This team would have to win defensively because it looks like it would struggle on offense.

Defense is not worth anywhere near the price you pay for it. As long as you're not terrible (sub 30) at more than one position at a time, and average around 55, you probably won't notice a weakness.

I believe that team would be very short on points/usage. Try to draft at least 8500 points. Try to have at least 95% in usage for your starters. Keep trying teams in the exhib until they look good.
