i don't know how this thread will go, but here goes.

For the first time, a player I drafted plays in the ml when Gordon Hardy pitches in the PM game.

I feel a little giddy and nervous for the imaginary kid. My wife is looking at me sideways.

What are your favorite HBD moments?

Mine are:
1) Making playoffs for first time (got swept)
2) First draft pick to make majors
3) Winning first playoff series
4) First (and only) pitcher of the week award

I have a few moments from my one and only team. In no particular order:

* The very last regular season game of my very first season. It went 23 innings and I lost 1-0. My team had a single in the 8th inning and a single in the 17th inning. Those were the only hits I had!

* My very first draft pick, Peter Nakamura, hit a home run in his very first big league AB. It is also worth mentioning that for my very first draft I had Nakamura ranked #1 and selected him 13th, which may be an HBD record for lowest draft spot to take your #1 ranked player (and be right in how good he is).

* Signing Quilvio Guardado as an IFA was pretty huge. Although it was only in AAA, he had a streak of 46 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings!

* Dwight Torres winning ROY.

mine is losing to the same team in the playoffs 3 times in a row.

Still new so theyre still coming, but:

First ever season for me, my team was tied for first place in the division going into the last series. Series was against the team we were tied with, so the best of 3 determined it. Won the first barely, got blown out in the 2nd. Both had our aces on the mound in game 3, we won I think 5-3 and made the playoffs! Where of course we got destroyed in 3 games in the first playoff round (we were only 80-82, division was just really bad than).

Really? You should start a thread about that.

I had two guys this year hit home runs in their first ever ML games.

Making the playoffs was a nice one.

I had a pitcher win the Cy Young, that was nice and all, but he was a trade, so not being home grown took a bit away from the joy.

And my home grown power hitting 1B just hit his 300th HR today at the ripe age of 27.

Scored 7 runs in the 9th inning of a season opener to win 10-9 once. All-time classic game for that org.

Just had a situation where, down 3-1 already, none of my SP were at 100% for Game 5. We needed a miracle win from our ace at 93%, and got it. Then, next game, my big SP FA acquisition came off a 44-day DL stint to win Game 6 for us. But with the opponents' SP4 on the mound in Game 7, we lost.

Had a rookie hit for the cycle this year as well. That was cool. Only cycle I've been a part of.

1 - Winning my first title (then repeating the next season).
2 - My ace throwing a no-hitter on opening day of S1 in Moneyball.
3 - Tossing a no-hitter vs. MikeT in Moonlight Graham, only for the favor to be returned the next game.
4 - Seeing "1 player needing assignment" after a brutal bidding war over Miguel Vargas.

Winning my first title as a WC, going 13-0 in the post season. Doesn't get much better than that. The first round series win in that run was also likely my first post season series win.

Least favourite - getting swept in the WS in back to back seasons, by the same damn NL team, in the same world about 8 seasons later on.

Hard to top my first championship in Griffey S1. I had to call my brother and ask him to log in and check the score for me, since I had to leave that morning for a trip to Kelley's Island. Spent the rest of the day celebrating.

Mad dash for the WC2 in S8 of MG. Never broke .500 until about game 135 or so. Went to Cincy two back, swept mumcoach's *** and took the last playoff spot. Won the first playoff series and began to think that this was my year. Got my *** beat in the next round. But that was a fun two+ weeks. We started playing well and mum's team choked just enough to open the door.
