8 NBA Draft Picks in one year Topic

Lostmyth just had 8 draft picks in this years draft in Knight... is that some kind of record.

Nah. I had 13 kids drafted one season. All 12 of my roster players and a walk-on who filled in after one of my guys went down. (Rebuilding was tough after that season.)

That has to be a record, wrightflyer had 7 a few seasons back from his Crum Texas squad and I thought that we had decided that it was a record at that time.

How many were early entries and how many in the first round and where did he finish the season?

so, i had to look it up ....

It was UNC, an A+ prestige team that had been to the NT 8 straight years (ever since LM2 became thier first human coach in season 012)

They were undefeated and #1rpi (im guessing by a wide margin) made it to the final4, but lost in the national semi-final.

the previous year, they had won the national championship, so they were wroking on a minimum 42 game winning streak. (they had won thier CT that previous year, but were "only" 11-5 in conference, so most likely the streak was not much more than 42)

HERE IS THE BEST PART!-----so, i am looking at thier roster (recruiting hasnt started yet) so there are just 4 dudes on the roster (other 8 went pro), and one of the dudes that is there is this kid?

http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Stats.aspx?tid=12961&pid=1318869

the kid is now a 950 senior. he has started every single game his first three years. averaged 15ppg as a soph (the title year) and 10.6 ppg as a junior.

obviously there is much randomness in EE's, but if you take a look at this kid, i bet you will agree that players like him turn pro more often than not.

very strange.

4 of the draftees never won an award of any kind and certainly were not special players on the offensive end. and three of those kids were EE's. of course, with no ratings to view, we dont know whether they may have been great defensive players, passers, etc. but im not seeing how they could possibly be in Paolini's league.

How these kids went pro and my boy Bruce Paolini (the all-world junior SF who started every game 3 straight years) didnt is a muystery for the ages.

totals:

3seniors, 3juniors, 1soph, 1 frosh

i know its not unusual to get a headscratcher or two, especially for a repeat final4 team, but to get 4 of them? while leaving out a deserving player? just seems real odd to me. but... what do i know?

Any truth to the rumor that the NBA actually let Lostmyth conduct its draft because he has so much experience drafting his recruits?
10/20/2009 4:38 PM
Not sure, but I did hear they moved the Orlando and Chicago Pre-Draft camps to Chapel Hill.

Man , 8 dudes drafted and one of the best players behind. He could be a #1 pick this season. That will be a heavy rebuild but he should get some 5 star guys to come in.

Offensive #'s don't mean that much for EE's ... it's mostly ratings, and then postseason success. All it means is that they didn't get a lot of distro. And I'm gonna go out on a limb that lost's boys had some pretty intense ratings.

Amazing, but in rl, you get guys drafted solely on their height and wingspan.
