How does one increase the minor league offer if the computer always comes back with an error message? It won't allow an increase and it won't allow a bonus.

you can't increase a minor league offer ... you just choose minor league contract, and leave the salary area blank

how do people bid against one another for the services of the player?

you can't up the bid for a minor league FA ... you can offer MiLB plus ST invite, which I *think* is a better offer than MiLB contract

the only way you can top the bid is by offering a MLB contract ... I suppose the logic is that if nobody thinks the guy is good enough to earn a MLB contract, there really is no need to pay him more than minor league scale

and if multiple teams offer the same (and only available) minor league deal, somehow the engine decides who gets him ... I don't recall what criteria they are using these days ... they are just minor league fodder, so I don't really pay attention

I believe it goes by depth chart, and where the engine feels that they player will get more playing time and a better chance to make it to the bigs.

You can also offer a no-trade clause.

If you have the money and the minor-leaguer is worth it, offer a major-league contract. Assuming the player has options, you can keep him in the minors, and then his salary will revert to $55,000 or so the following season.

A few seasons back, we had a bidding war for a C who was close to major-league ready defensively (and outstanding) and whose bat suggested he'd be a decent platoon hitter. The bidding went to close to $1M, even though he remained in AAA for another 1.5 seasons.

why do career minor leaguers, or guys that arent nearly good enough for the majors ask for a truck load of money?

Definitely a contender for the worst and least realistic part of HBD.

WIS said that they are changing this.

Better question: why do "users" keep giving it to them?

I won't pay them jack... but it will deplete my staff/starting line up.
