I was sure he'd pop in after seeing d2 LeMoyne take down Syracuse last night.

If that game isn't inspiration to return to HD, i don't know what is... Who gets results more random than that?

I live in Syracuse - I don't know how random it is...SU has its work cut out this season. If they concentrate on what Coach has to say they have NT potential, but they can easily eff it up too (as evidenced last night...)

takes me back to Syracuse against Richmond - 1991 I think - amazing win by 15 seed over 2 seed - I was there and Cole Field House was rocking as the fans got behind the underdog when it began to seem possible that a 15 would finally beat a 2

On Sportscenter today they were showing all the D2 teams that have beaten D1 teams in exhibitions and last season a D2 team beat Michigan State who as we all know went on to lose in the National Championship. These type of losses should point out in 1 game situations a far inferior team can have the game of their lives and pull of an upset.

In a sense it's a fair point, but when it happens in an exhibition, that greatly diminishes the significance.

i dont think its a fair point at all. This is exhibition. LeMoyne has ever reason to be "up" for this game. For the 'cuse its a scrimmage. That does not exist in HD.

In HD every single player plays with the same level of intensity for every single game. Thats not so in real life, so you get these upsets.

TK would bring up the Chaminade game all the time in regards to this. Well thats the perfect example to prove my point. Virginia was in Hawaii!! The games were not that important. I'm pretty sure the mai-tai's were flowing at the luau the night before and Virgina was not near 100% "up" for the game.

I would bet a fair amount of money that if this game was played with a "prize" of $10k per player, the 'cuse would win. And if you replayed that game 1000 times, they would win every single time.

This is the one aspect that HD will never (and should never) mimic real life. there is no day-to-day fatigue, hot/cold shooting, psychological advantages, getting fired up, etc. . .

The only team sport where a significantly inferior team should ever even have a "chance" to pull an upset is baseball.

I know the kid Chris Johnson that dropped 22 and hit the game winner. Grew right by him played football with him at the local school for a couple years hes a nice kid nd hell of a basketball player

and so #15 Richmond didnt defeat #2 Syracuse in 1991?

the #70/80 best college team in america beat the #6/7. Yea thats okay. Thats not inferior talent.

This is a DII/DIII thing. No top level (Top 50) college team should ever lose to a DII team

*edit* (in a vacuum, which HD is)

so, my whole point was, honestly, to see if jj is still checking in here-- he coached LeMoyne in Naismith forever, and quit the day he won his first-ever National Championship.

but i agree with the PTI guys on this one-- huge huge deal if you are LeMoyne, nothing but a blip on the screen for the Cuse.
