Rule 5 Prospect Progression Topic

Do prospects drafted in the rule 5 generally not progress much since they are assigned to your ML team? I am trying to decide if the 22 yo prospect who if he progresses close to fully will become pretty good, or the 26 yo who has basically reached his potentially but is decent now. The 22 yo has the ability to be much better if he fully progresses, but the 26 yo is currently better.. Any thoughts?

The 22 yo should still progress, assuming you plan on playing him regularly after you draft him. If you plan on stashing him on your bench for this season, then you are basically throwing away a year of development, but if he is going to play. and he is the player you prefer, go get him.

R5 guys are 4 year pros. Most 4 year pros have done much of their progressing and are who they are. How much did the 22 y/o progress between his last two seasons? Cut that in half and that's what you can expect for this season.

Thanks Guys. I do plan on playing whoever I draft regularly. The couple 22 year olds on my radar all progressed between 4-6 points the last season.

In my experience, pay more attention to # of pro years than age. If age was influential you'd see college players drafted at age 22 not developing very much, and that's not the case. Seems to me that development universally slows to a very slow rate by the 5th pro year.
