There was a DevChat that said something about challenging a guy on D.

Meaning that SS will give you greater defensive growth than, say, LF.... but I'm not sure how significant the difference would be from 2B to CF. My guess is CF, too, but anywhere up the middle > COF/CIF imho.

I always thought that CF was harder than 2B. At least I have an easier time finding acceptable 2b than I do finding acceptable CF. Is it a throwing hand thing?

That's the standard MLB defensive spectrum. I know it's been mentioned by CS before so I assume that's how they work it.

Can't be a throwing hand thing because LH CF can't play 3B.

Would it be better to play a player out of position if it is at a more challenging position even if they do not do well? Ex. A 2b at ss.

Did you mean LH CF cant play 2b? I have had success putting a LH CF at 3b....

8 errors, no + plays, 3 - plays. Thats not success - thats getting by without this major fielding mistake costing you too much.

In theory. I'm sure the developers didn't plan to create an abomination like that so I've always doubted the "challenge them in the field" credo.

If that's the case, I should put all my best hitters at SS/2B to make them better if I don't have a future SS/2B at that particular level. That just seems dumb.
