1941 WESPL Draft Topic

Rules

This is progressive league playing dual eras. Each season we play 2 years, but we keep those years completely separate by league (except for interleague play). We play each era simultaneously, one in the NL and one in the PL. In effect we are playing two progressive leagues, separated by league boundary. the reason we are playing 2 at once, rather than each individually is, of course, that there are not enough 1923 or 1946 players to fill 24 teams, but there are enough to fill 12 teams.

·each owner can take up to 2 teams- one starting in 1923 in the NL and one starting in 1946 in the PL. (if you only want one team, that is fine...someone else will then just take only one in the opposite league)

·we will have separate snake-style initial drafts for each league

o1923 teams will be able to draft any player (and only any player) who had a 1923 WIS season. 1946 teams will be able to draft any player (and only any player) who had a 1946 WIS season.

owe will draft stadiums (from our era) in the initial drafts

odraft order for the initial drafts will be determined randomly

odrafted players will be owned until they are cut, are traded, or retire

ostadiums will be owned for the life of the league, unless you appeal for a stadium change.

·each team may carry over as many players as it likes to the following season (standard progressive- For instance, the team who had 1923 babe ruth in 1923, would have 1924 babe ruth in 1924. )

okeeper lists will be due by the 135 game mark. Late keeper lists will have all possible keepers counted against their DPR (see below), and if not submitted by the start of the draft- all possible keepers retained.

oplayers who miss a WIS season in mid-career can be retained on the DL until their career resumes. for instance, if you draft P y O'doul in 1923, you can retain him until he comes back as an outfielder. (you have to keep him on your active roster any year he has a WIS season)

·after each season we will have separate non-snake rookie/free agent drafts to fill out rosters in each league/year. a drafted player will be owned by its drafting team until that player is traded, is cut, or retires.

orookie/free agent draft order: factors involved will be SalaryYr1 (previous year): punished. salaryYr2 (upcoming year, of team's keepers): punished at lesser rate. Wins previous year (after 135gms): rewarded at lesser rate. here is the formula:

Total salaryYr1 at Game 81 (Millionsx2) + salaryYr2 from posted keepers by Game 135 (MillionsX1) - Wins at Game 140/2= DPS (draft power score)

the lowest possible salary that can be entered into the formula will be 55m. for instance, if your salary from year 1 (or yr 2) was 39m, 55m would be used in the formula. (there is no advantage to holding a firesale to get below 55m in salary)

Lowest DPS drafts first, highest last

trading draft picks for players or other picks is allowed.

·at no point in any season will a team from one league/year be able to have a player from another year. for instance, a 1923 team will have all 1923 players. there will be no inter-year trading between 1923 and 1946 teams. (trading between teams of the same year will, of course, be legal and encouraged).

·Team names will begin with the current year, followed by the city of your stadium, followed by a nickname of your choice (can be the real name, or a name of your choice.) for instance, if you drafted wrigley field in the 1946 draft, your team name could be: '46 Chicago Cubs, or '46 Chicago River Rats etc. it could not be don's dingers, or tallahassee tigers etc.

·AAA will be set to below-average, so as to provide fatigue relief, but at replacement-player level ability (similar to real life minor leagues).

·The NLCS will be considered the WS of the 23 era, and PLCS will be considered the WS of the 46 era. The LCS winners will be proclaimed "champions" of their respective eras, and the world series will be a time-travel exhibition match for WIS rewards, personal stats, and bragging rights.

·collusion will be illegal -(note- this section was written for owners who own teams in both leagues. so far, I -jwilli- am the only one) for instance, dumping 1923 players to another 1923 team in exchange for recieving the opposite in return with your 1946 team will be absolutely illegal and punishable by draft pick loss or expulsion at commissioner discretion. also, throwing games, between 2 teams of your own (there will only be 2 per year), or between your team and another's team, for any reason, will also be illegal and punishable by the same measures.

·Live play will be legal, although there will never be any sort of requirement to play live. completely up to the owner. SLLive will be allowed for the current series.

·No DH

Draft rules

Once you have posted your pick, please sitemail the next 2 owners

If the owner immediately before you has posted his or her pick, you may post your pick – otherwise, you must wait until the beginning of your scheduled draft slot to post your pick

To minimize extensive skipping, the draft for the following day will not start until the posted time for that day's first pick - this will provide owners with skipped picks time to make a pick before the next day's picks are made

If all owners have picked (no skips), the the draft order for the following day may proceed

Posted picks are official once another owner has posted his or her pick.

To avoid selecting a player already selected, please check the available players list and the most recent posted draft picks before posting your pick

The use of proxies is encouraged if you think you may not be around to post your pick
