Diff in Scouting & coach’s report during. Topic

Diff in Scouting and coach's report during recruiting. I never noticed this before (not sure why not). ...maybe cause I don't pay much attention to JUCOs.

hence, this is more of a FYI...

here is the case details and support's answer...

conflicting reports on player's (name removed) fullcourt skills.
the player's profile url is (link removed...)

(assist. coach scouting report link removed)

in this email from my assist. coach, it states, "Defensively, they played mostly a fullcourt press. Really knew what he was doing out there - seemed like he was a step ahead of everyone else in terms of knowing where to be and what to expect when they ran press. Sharp kid."

(JUCO coach's scouting report link removed)

his coach states, "Defensively, we primarily play fullcourt press. Relative to the other players I've coached, he is below average in the fullcourt press."

can you please tell me which is correct?

It appears the discrepancy is due to him being a JUCO. The assistant coach message does not take that into account, so the comparison there is to high school players. The message from the coach does take into account that he only has 2 seasons remaining. So he'll be good there compared to high school recruits.

yeah, interesting. i never noticed it before.

still not sure why his JUCO coach and my assist. coach wouldn't have the same info?

basically, my assistant watched him at a JUCO practice / game and he was running the press at above avg skill. Then when i called his JUCO coach for more info, he told me his knowledge of the press was below avg (either based on either his high school knowledge or whatever def scheme the JUCO team runs)?
